Steve Janosik was appointed as a senior policy analyst and
Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership
and Policy Studies in August of 1997. In addition, Dr. Janosik
serves as the Co-Director for the newly established Educational
Policy Institute of Virginia Tech and has been instrumental in
the development of several interactive web sites that address
education policy in Virginia.
Prior to this position, he served as Deputy Secretary of Education
for the Commonwealth of Virginia where he worked closely with
the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, the Virginia
Community College System, the Council for Information Management,
the Library of Virginia, and the State Department of Education.
Dr. Janosik has over 20 years of experience in college administration.
He has written over 20 articles on the topics of campus crime,
law in higher education, liability and risk management, residence
life, and student development. He is a frequent presenter at
regional and national conferences. Steve's latest research includes
papers entitled, "Trends in Community College Litigation:
Implications for Policy and Practice" and "The Information
Needs of Education Policy Makers in Virginia."
